James, born and raised in Georgia, grew up in a Christian home. At the age of five, he made a profession of faith. However, for over 27 years, he grappled with doubt and confusion regarding his salvation. On the first Sunday of April 2010, he finally placed his complete trust in Christ as his Savior. In October 2010, I answered the call to preach the gospel. After several years of serving the Lord in his local church, God began to work on
his heart, leading him to pursue a career as a Senior Pastor and church planter. During a Missions Conference in 2016, James surrendered to the full-time ministry and expressed his desire to plant a church when the opportunity arose. He would continue serving for nine more years before the Lord opened a door for him to start a new church.
James dedicated his entire career to the public sector, specializing in transportation. He spent six years working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and the subsequent fifteen years serving in various roles with the Federal Highway Administration across multiple states. While working and serving in the local church, God began to stir his heart again, urging him to step out and fully commit to the ministry.
After a few trips to the Austin area, God revealed to him the urgent need for churches in the North Austin Metro area. After much prayer and seeking counsel, God confirmed his will, and James stepped out in faith to establish the Leander Baptist Church in Leander, Texas.
James is married to Julia Kyte. They have been married for eleven years and have a five-year-old son named Matthew. Julia was raised in a Christian home and was saved at a young age. She attended Bible college in preparation for ministry and has been actively involved in different facets of church ministry for many years. She is currently a stay-at-home wife and homeschools our five-year-old son, Matthew.
